Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a young boy was killed in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased attacks on energy facilities over recent weeks, while officials has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the major economies - in delivering air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles targeted energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks succeed evenings of air raids in the territory, portions of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were preparing for further attacks.
